In order to be able to design compensators correctly, it is necessary to obtain the most detailed information possible about the operating parameters. In some cases, we require an analysis of the medium. The accuracy of this information is all the more important, as missing or incorrect information can lead to the destruction of the compensators and void the warranty.
The most important operating parameters for designing a suitable compensator are:
Medium
- Information as precise as possible (analysis if possible)
Temperature
- Operating temperature
- Failure temperature
- Design temperature, min/max.
Pressure
- Maximum possible operating positive or negative pressure
- Pressure pulsation
Flow velocity and direction
- Maximum flow velocity to check the requirement for the use of a baffle plate
- The direction of flow is important in connection with solids content in the medium.
Mechanical stress
- The movements or expansions to be absorbed by the compensator
Solids loading
- Type, size and quantity of solids in the medium (due to possible abrasion).
Dew point and chemical influences
- To check the material suitability
External influences
- Ambient temperature
- Information about the environment (chemically aggressive environment)
Tightness requirements
- To specify the best mounting method
- Design of the flange or clamping edges
Installation location and situation
- Outdoors or indoors
- Plant section
- Installation sketch
- In which country is the compensator mounted ?
